Malletts Bay School Student Meets Impressive Goal

As recently reported in the Colchester Sun, a very avid reader at Malletts Bay School has accomplished an impressive feat.

Josh Kalfus, a fifth grader at MBS, had read all thirty titles on the 2011–2012 Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Award’s Master List.

The Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children’s Book Award, named for American author Dorothy Canfield Fisher, celebrates children’s literature. A master list of thirty books is compiled annually and made available to students. Students who read at least five books from the list may vote on their favorite, and the winning author is invited to speak with students about writing children’s literature.

MBS librarian Lynn Hebert reported that Josh read all thirty books from this year’s list! Josh used a variety of bookstores and libraries and found time in his busy schedule to read the collection. In doing so, he has encouraged other students to pursue the same goal.

Congratulations, Josh!
