UMS Champs Read 1,200 Books or Chapters Over February Vacation

Union Memorial School is celebrating reading challenge achievements in style!

Students, faculty, and staff were challenged to read at least ten books or chapters during February vacation, and, in keeping with UMS’s Go Fish! February musical theme, students filled out a sheet with a school of ten fish for each book or chapter they read (or were read). The schools of fish have been taped around the school and added all together—UMS read 1,200 books (or chapters) over vacation!

In celebration, each class gets a special snack—Goldfish crackers!—while they listen to a special story read by Mr. Antonicci.

UMS will offer the reading challenge again in April to see if the participants can beat 1,200! It is another great example of the school and the district’s efforts around literacy.

Way to go, Champs!
