Cake, Smiles, and Happy Tears: CMS Throws Surprise 75th Birthday Celebration

Your birthday is a special time to celebrate the gift of “you” to the world.

Ruth Quintin gets a huge surprise for her seventy-fifth birthday

Colchester Middle School’s head cook, Ruth “Ruthie” Quintin, turned 75 recently … and everyone at CMS turned out to help her celebrate in grand fashion.

The entire school turned out to sing "Happy Birthday" to Ruthie.

Assistant Principal Peg Gillard organized a surprise party, complete with cakes, a “Happy Birthday” serenade, and a grand cheer for the birthday girl. Free birthday cake was served to students and staff all day to help her celebrate.

Ruthie has been with CMS since 1988. “I have never ever seen her without a smile,” said Peg Gillard. “She is kind to all of our kids and tries to find interesting, yummy, healthy food for all of us.”

Positive climate in our schools is important. Way to go, CMS! Congratulations, Ruthie!
